Forward to Luck of
the Draw
First a word of warning, although this is not a slash story, per se,
it does liberally make reference to the canon relationship of Chris Keller and
Tobias Beecher. I would also like to point out that the prisoners of Oz
are generally rude, crude, and socially unacceptable. They like the F
word. A lot. They call each other names. They fight.
They stab each other with sharpened toothbrushes. This is not a show for
the faint of heart so if you're easily offended, make us both happy and take a
pass on this one.
On another note, I realize the 'Elliot Stabler and Chris Keller as brothers'
bit has been done before. I know that. But I couldn't help myself!
Something about the duality of one actor so beautifully portraying two such
polar opposite and yet subtly similar men at the same time struck a cord
with me. Lookit! A cop and a con, both with attitude, determination,
and anger management issues. (Kudos to the lovely and talented
Christopher Meloni, you rock, baby!)
I know I'm on shaky ground here on the timing. FBI Special
Agent Taylor has begun his crusade against Chris, Chris and Toby are still on
the outs, and the body bags have already been filled. Therefore this story takes
place in the Oz universe during a small window of time somewhere between the
season 4.2 episodes 'Revenge is Sweet' and 'Cuts Like a Knife'.
So
that would make it season three-ish in SVU? Yeah? If anything falls outside of this time frame, please consider it AU.
In that same vein, I hereby freely admit to completely disregarding the
ridicules 'aging pill' and 'Chinese detainee' Oz subplots. I also took
huge liberties with the broken water pipe.
Since the well-known and much loved butterfly tattoo on
a certain thigh is real, both Keller and Elliot have one. However, for this
story, Elliot's thigh is ink free. Thank you for allowing this poetic
license. There. Is my ass covered? I hope so. *g*
Special thanks to Forbes for all the support, chocolate (and not the virtual
kind, either), and for generally keeping me on track. Several of the plot
points were her ideas and I think she made a huge difference in the quality of
the story.
